On Friday, the YFC Hall, Cresselly, was filled to capacity for the production of St. Oswald's School Infant Play.
Headmistress, Mrs. Margery Brown, welcomed everyone to the school's very first infant play.
The first scene began with a wonderful rendition of 'Little Donkey' and continued with the story of Mary and Joseph's journey to Bethlehem and their search for a room. Some parts of the scene were conducted in music form, accompanied on the piano by teacher, Mrs. Grieve, with the children singing songs to portray the story.
The second scene told of the birth of Jesus and the visit from the shepherds (and sheep). 'Here we go up to Bethlehem' and 'We three Kings of Orient are' were sung to describe the journey of the three kings and their presentation of gifts to the baby Jesus. 'Away in a manger' was sung around the crib and the play ended as it had begun, with the sweet singing of 'Little Donkey'.
Mr. Wybert Bendall wrote the play especially for the school and the children gave a first class performance. The costumes were brilliant and it was obvious that a great deal of hard work had been put into the production of the play.
Mrs. Brown thanked the children for their brilliant performance, the author of the play, and all parents and staff for all their hard work involved in the preparations of costumes and rehearsals.
The joyful event came to a close with the provision of refreshments and the raffle draw.
