The first Christmas Market in Tenby took place on Sunday, with a whole range of stalls positioned along South Parade. The stallholders, most of whom are based in Pembrokeshire, traded from 9 am through to 4 pm. A range of items were on sale, including ceramics, sheepskin rugs, freshly made cakes, local produce and jewellery. Liz Hart, events co-ordinator for Tenby Events Management, said: "The response from the stallholders was quite positive, given that there were not a lot of crowds in Tenby on the day. Nevertheless, most stallholders are keen to come back for this Sunday's market. "Most importantly, the public seemed genuinely pleased that a market was taking place in Tenby." The market will be a regular feature in Tenby during 2005, following a successful bid for European Objective One funding and the formation of the De Valence Trust and Tenby Events Management Ltd. "The market is a great opportunity to buy Christmas gifts that are totally unique, its livening up the town in the lead up to Christmas and we're supporting local artists and food producers," added Liz. The next South Parade Christmas Market takes place on Sunday.
