A world record attempt, with as many flying lanterns as possible set off during an event, is to take place at next month's annual firework display in Whitland, organised by the town's fire station.
West Coast Fireworks will again be providing the sparks and sounds and will hopefully manage to pull off the record attempt on the night.
"The display has grown in popularity over the years, which we are very proud of, and has allowed us to donate thousands to various charities," said one of the organisers, Meurig Evans, who is also crew manager at Whitland Fire Station.
"However, due to the poor attendance at the venue last year, we were unfortunately unable to make any donations, which we found disappointing, but we had to cover costs.
"This year, we intend to promote attendance by donating £1 to the Noah's Ark Appeal for every £5 we take at the gate. As firefighters, we do believe displays are the safest and cheapest way for members of the public to watch fireworks on bonfire night, especially when you have a market of illegal and high-powered fireworks available for sale," added Meurig.
At this year's display, which kicks-off in the town at 6.30 pm on Wednesday, Nobember 5, there will be £6,000 worth of fireworks, a fun-fair, BBQ and plenty more entertainment. Entry is £3 for adults and £2 for children.
