Fireworks fans are in for a treat, as national and world champions will be competing for the TOTAL Champion of Champions title. Fireworks of all shapes and sizes will light up the Milford Haven Waterway on the evenings of September 28 and 29. Fired from a jetty near Hobbs Point in Pembroke Dock, there will be four displays over two nights, each lasting approximately 10 minutes, starting at 9.30 pm and 10 pm, with the best viewing points being the Western Way car park in Pembroke Dock and the Promenade in Neyland.
To complement the first ever firework competition in Pembrokeshire, there will be a funfair and catering in Western Way car park in Pembroke Dock and at the Brunel Quay in Neyland during the event. The Saturday will also be a busy day full of exciting activities for all the family, including sessions on sailing, kayaking and canoeing from Neyland Yacht Club, boat trips up the Cleddau river in the afternoon or music on the promenade in the early evening. Children can enjoy themed workshops with Sand Palace Arts and other activities organised by the Brunel Association in the marquee near Brunel Quay.
For Brunel enthusiasts, there will be a 'Story of the Great Eastern' exhibition starting on September 27 in Neyland Library, which can be viewed free of charge during normal library opening hours. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture this unique spectacle and send your pictures to 'The Best Firework Photograph', PLANED, The Old School Station Road, Narberth, for a chance to win your very own firework display. For further information about the event and a free copy of the full programme, please call Liz on (01834) 862113. The event is being organised by a committee formed of representatives of the local communities, chaired by Clr. Sue Perkins, and supported by PLANED through the Experience Pembrokeshire's Waterway project. The project is supported by EU LEADER+ and part- funded by the Welsh Assembly Government.
