Sir,

The Rotary Club of Tenby wishes to sincerely thank all the organisations and individuals who helped with our annual bonfire night last Sunday.

Due to an adverse weather forecast, the event was moved from the Friday to the Sunday and this proved to be a sensible decision.

Once again, the firework display was a fabulous spectacle and Rotarian Steve Williams deserves full credit for his efforts.

The entertainment provided by local band, The Collective, was also excellent. Gary, Christian, Lee and Joel are a slick quartet and were well assisted by soundman Bruce.

Tenby Ladies Circle did a wonderful job on the Welsh cakes and hot drinks, while the Rotarians cooked the burgers and supplied the beer.

The police's assistance with traffic and parking was invaluable and we are also grateful for St. John Ambulance's attendance.

We could not do without Chevron's continued sponsorship and for this we are most thankful. Similarly, the co-operation of Tenby United RFC and some of its representatives is fundamental. The Heywood Lane ground is a fine venue for the event.

There are two main reasons for Tenby RC holding the bonfire night and fireworks display. Firstly, it is to raise funds for the numerous local, national and international charities we donate to each year. Secondly, and just as important, it is to put on an event which the local community will hopefully enjoy and appreciate.

Therefore, the biggest thanks for last Sunday must go to the citizens of Tenby and its surrounds, both adults and children, many hundreds of whom turned out on a cold and damp evening just as they have done in previous years. We trust you enjoyed it. We are indebted to you for your loyal support.

The Rotary Club of Tenby.
