In their previous two encounters the Tablers have held the upper hand against the firemen. However, following a keenly fought match this year, the firemen ran out worthy winners, having fielded a youthful team of new recruits, who just happened to be good footballers!
Despite a poor start, and quickly going down 4-0, the Tablers came back to within a goal at 6-5, before eventually fitness levels and perhaps the desire for some post-match aperitifs began to tell and the fire brigade came out winners at 10-5.
Later in the evening, Tenby Round Table made a couple of presentations to the Fire Brigade. Firstly, following successful fundraising during the summer, Table chairman, Simon Ronowitz presented a £500 cheque for the National Fire Brigade Benevolent Fund, to fireman Lee Simmons, chairman of the local fundraising branch.
In addition to the charity donation, Simon ate humble pie and presented a 'huge' winners trophy to the fire brigade football captain, Gwyn 'Bumples' John.
