Recently, firefighters from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service supported young musicians from Sir Thomas Picton School, Haverfordwest, at a concert held to raise money for the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal.
Following news of the earthquake, Jean Wheeler, from Tempus Vocal Group, a dynamic group of vocalists and instrumentalists in Pembrokeshire, decided to hold a concert to help raise money for the earthquake appeal.
The services of musicians from all over Pembrokeshire were secured, including infants school choirs, music teachers and professional performers.
Firefighters Phill Irving and Paul Dyson from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended to assist with the fund-raising. They gave a moving presentation and talk on their experiences of the scenes of devastation witnessed following the earthquake and their involvement in the rescue of a two-year-old girl and a 39-year-old woman.
Their efforts were applauded by all of those in attendance.
The concert was supported by local businesses who helped with raffle prizes and staging the event.
Following a huge joint effort, the event raised an impressive £2,005 which will be donated to the DEC Haiti Earthquake Appeal - well done to everyone involved!
