The National Pub and Bar Awards has announced its 2019 County Winners, with the Griffin Inn, Dale named as the best establishment in Wales.

The National Pub and Bar Awards aims to put the finest on-trade businesses across the UK in the spotlight, showcasing just how diverse and creative the hospitality industry really is.

The pubs, which have been selected on overall best practice across a number of operational categories, were officially crowned at a red carpet celebration at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly in London on May 22 hosted by restaurant critic Jay Rayner.

“Selecting this year’s 94 County Winners has been nothing short of inspiring,” said Tristan O’Hana, editor of Pub and Bar magazine, which hosts the event.

“From idyllic countryside pubs to inner city cocktail bars, this is the most eclectic and exciting industry in the world. It’s a privilege to help these businesses get the recognition they deserve.”

The Griffin was the Welsh winner, to add to proprietors Sian and Simon Vickers recent award for ‘Restaurant Hosts/Manager of the Year’ at the Food Awards Wales event.
