Flt. Lt. Robert Evans, CO of 2420 Whitland and District Squadron, is pictured with Cadet Flight Sergeant Tom Walker. Tom, former pupil of Ysgol y Preseli, had his final parade at the Squadron after nearly five years. He is leaving his home in Llandissilio to join the Royal Marines. He commenced 32 weeks of RM recruit training at Commando Training Centre, Lympstone, near Exeter, on Monday.

Last weekend, Whitland Sqn attended the Wing Athletics Trials, at Carmarthen Leisure Centre. Over 180 cadets from 22 squadrons from No 3 Welsh Wing took part in very wet conditions.

Whitland 2420 Sqn took joint first prize in the junior girls overall, helped by Cpl Sam Burnell's wins in each of her field events. The Whitland team was made up of F/S Jack Brennan, Cpls Ryan Roberts, Sam Burnell, Matt Pilot, Ryan Orchard. and Cadets Luke Reynolds, Ben Pilarz and Damien James.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Whitland Sqn is manning a feed station for the Tour of Pembrokeshire cycle sportif. A team of cadets and staff will provide welcome food and drinks to the riders on the gruelling 100-mile loop. They will be stationed in the village of Boncath for the duration of the ride.

The Air Training Corps is a national voluntary youth organisation, open to young men and women aged between 13 and 20. Flying, gliding, sports, shooting and adventure training are some of the activities that Air Cadets participate in.
