The closing date for the sixth Tenby Open Art Competition is approaching fast.

All artists aged over 16 are invited to enter the competition which is organised by Tenby's Art Matters Gallery. From humble beginnings, the competition has grown year by year both in terms of the prizes on offer and in the number of artists from far and wide who have entered.

This year, the prizes include a £1,000 first prize, a £250 second prize sponsored by Emrys Art Supplies and a Pembrokeshire Young Artist Award of £250 provided by Pembrokeshire County Council.

Other substantial prizes have been offered by Pembrokeshire Art and Framing, Derwent (the Cumberland Pencil Company), Days Motor Group, Search Press, Sennelier and St. Cuthberts Mill.

Eligible for entry are two-dimensional original works up to a maximum size of one metre in either direction...up to four paintings in any medium, mixed media, collage or original artists prints (but excluding digital or photographic work).

The judges are three well established artists: Arthur Lewis, Naomi Tydeman and Paul Woodford, together with Tom Learmonth representing sponsors Emrys Art Supplies

Entries may be handed in from Thursday until Tuesday, October 9 to 14, from 10 am to 5 pm, and the judging will take place on Wednesday, October 15. The prize winners will be announced at the opening of the exhibition of selected work on Saturday, November 1.
