Members of Penally’s parish council voiced their concerns about the erosion taking placing between Giltar and South Beach.

At their meeting, the council decided to write to G.O.C Western Command, Chester, calling for action to be taken.

Clr. Malcolm Thomas brought up the matter in the meeting.

He said: “The encroachment at the end of the beach is becoming very serious, we have lost a lot of land in the last few months.”

Tenby’s town clerk, Mr. Wynne Samuel, told members of Tenby Borough Council’s general purposes committee that there were indications that the Whitland-Pembroke Dock line would remain open this year.

It was understood that British Rail were making arrangements for excursion trains to visit Tenby during the summer.

Clr. Michael Williams said he understood that British Rail were working towards a closure in October.

“I don’t think the line will be open to the end of the year, unless our MP pulls his finger out.

“He has not asked a single question in the House of Commons on this matter.”
