A lot of Tenby mothers were ‘up in arms’ due to the fact that nothing was being done for the children of the borough to mark the investiture of the Prince of Wales.
Clr. Mrs. Iris Davies, one of the town’s two new female councillors, told her fellow councillors that the parents argument was that “£200 can be spent on entertaining HMS Tenby, but nothing was being done for the children!”
A suggestion that the staff of Tenby’s Guildhall might be given a holiday on investiture day was quashed by members of the borough council’s general purposes committee.
A very great number of Tenby ratepayers would object if Sunday bingo was permitted at the De Valence Pavilion, Alderman W. H. Scourfield told members of the borough council.
The chief Scout Sir Charles Fitzroy McClean paid a return visit to Pembrokeshire when he met 400 Cub Scouts at Narberth rugby field.

At Tenby County Primary School sports day, individual winners were: Form 2 - Julie Bowman (Monkstone), and Brian Nash (Monkstone); Form 3 - Thelma Dodson (Caldey) and David Cope (Goscar); Form 4 - Sarah McLoughlin (Monkstone) and Philip Hewitt (Goscar).
