Good news for Tenby when the chairman of the Wales Hospital Board, Mr. Gwilym Prys Davies, announced that the town’s cottage hospital would continue to function despite plans for the reorganisation of hospital services within Pembrokeshire.
Tenby received some distinguished and honorable visitors when the Gurkhas came to town. Hundreds of people lined The Esplanade to watch the pipes and drums of the Brigade of Ghurkhas beat retreat.
Tenby’s borough surveyor,?Mr.?Noel Barron, resigned and was taking up a post in Flintshire.
Saundersfoot carnival queen was Gillian Allen who was crowned by Dr. O. B. Ryland.?Attendants were Amanda Ellis, Nicola Jones, Cheryl Warlow and Allison Williams.
To mark the occasion of the coming-of-age of Enterprise Lodge, RAOB, Kilgetty, a celebration social evening was held at the RAOB?social club. A total of 150 brethren attended from various lodges in the province.
Tenby’s 15th annual horse show, held at Lodge Farm, was attended by well over 2,000 people and was thought to have been one of the most successful held in recent years.
