Mr. Michael Williams, 22-year-old secretary of Tenby branch of Plaid Cymru, won the vacant seat on Tenby Borough Council. Only 359 people voted out of 3,398. Mr. Williams polled 210, Mr. James Titterton, his opponent, 146.
One of the finest weeks there has ever been in Narberth. That is how Urban District Council chairman, Clr. Charles Salmon, described Narberth’s first Civic Week. Carnival queen was 17-year-old Barbara Morgan, of Wood Office, Narberth. Her attendants were Pam Lloyd, Gwyneth John, Janet Lewis, Susan Nicholas, Helen Prichard and Sonia Harris.
With traditional ceremony, Tenby’s centuries old St. Margaret’s Fair was opened in brilliant sunshine at the North Beach car park and it proved to be a more impressive sight than of recent years.
Over £925 - a record sum - had been sent to Christian Aid headquarters, London, as the result of Tenby’s 1968 Christian Aid week.
