Partly due to devaluation and the effects of the last budget, the cost of civil engineering works for the new high level bridge over the Haven had risen sharply by nearly £400,000 in four months. After being given these facts, Pembrokeshire County Council unanimously agreed to go ahead with the project. Estimated total net cost of the scheme was then £3,020.825.

Parents in Narberth were ‘seething with anger’ over the method of selecting children for entry to grammar schools, members of Pembrokeshire County Council were told. Clr. Aaron Edwards, of Narberth, a former headteacher, said that only three out of 16 children had been selected to go onto grammar school.
