The Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Chris Jones, appealed to fellow members of the Friends of Tenby to get their priorities right. Speaking at the annual meeting at the Royal Gate House on the proposed local government mergers, he said: “Let us not waste too much time on trivialists like litter and lamp-posts while the institutions which have produced our environment, our characteristics and our way of life are dismantled before our very eyes.” Despite the very cold weather, the meeting, which was presided over by Lord Merthyr, was attended by about 80 members.

The first-ever Tenby branch of Plaid Cymru was formed when Mr. Wynne Samuel, Plaid’s candidate in Pembrokeshire, addressed a meeting of members and sympathisers at the Royal Lion Hotel.

A Meidrim driver, who drove across Pendine sands on Whit Monday in a manner to cause a danger to the public, was fined £3 by Whitland magistrates and ordered to pay £5 costs.
