Tenby Borough Council were considering the transfer of their administrative headquarters to the top floor of the South Beach Pavilion, former area offices of the South Wales Electricity Board. The remainder of the building, the whole of which the council owned, would revert to its original use as an amusement centre.
Tenby saw its first-ever pickets in action when nine members of the National Union of Bank Employees took part in a two-day token strike.
An ambitious scheme to transform Tenby’s existing refuse tip at the Clicketts into a landscaped sports arena - or Olympic Village, as Clr. Gilroy Phillips had called it - had been envisaged by a working committee of councillors and sports enthusiasts who had been meeting for the previous six months.
Whitland Week proved a greater financial success than 1966, it was revealed at the annual meeting of the Parc Dr. Owen Development Committee. A profit of £510 4s 10d was made - an increase of £70 on the previous year.
Narberth and Whitland Inner Wheel held their first anniversary dinner at the Atlantic Hotel, Tenby, while Tenby Inner Wheel Club celebrated its 21st birthday with a dinner-dance at the Royal Gate House Hotel.
