The first breathalyser test in Pembrokeshire was given to a man in Milford Haven. The early hours of the morning test was positive and he was taken to Milford Haven police station where further tests were carried out.

Condemning Narberth Urban Council as a ‘phantom authority’ some of whose meetings were reduced to the level of a ‘Klu Klux Klan,’ a Pembrokeshire journalist claimed at a public inquiry that meetings of the council, in effect, had been held in secret. Because no notices of forthcoming meetings were posted in accordance with the 1933 Local Government Act, it could be said that meetings were illegal, declared Mr. Derrick Harries, of Saundersfoot. Mr. Harries spoke disparagingly of the conduct of one of the meetings, in particular, as ‘Fred Karno’s Army at its best.’
