The high standard of entertainment that had come to be expected from a Whitland Week continued and many people thought that the event was the best ever staged by the Parc Dr. Owen Development Committee.
Conditions were perfect when the Bristol Channel pleasure steamer ‘Westward Ho’ made the crossing from Tenby to Lundy. Many people failed to get tickets for the 30-mile trip, which was organised by Mr. Claude Page in connection with the National Trust Appeal, Enterprise Neptune. Over 600 made the voyage.
Attendance of traders at Tenby’s St. Margaret’s Fair had increased over the previous three years and takings had also gone up, the agent, Mr. W. I. Evans, told the general purposes committee of Tenby Town Council.
A Tenby golfer, W. E. (Bill) Gray, holed-in-one at Tenby’s new short hole, the 100-yard 12th.
A successful gymkhana was held at Norchard Farm, Manorbier. It was organised by Mrs. Diana Mathias who ran a riding school at Norchard and some 40 of her young people competed.
Showing at the Royal Playhouse: Divorce American Style; at the South Beach: Tony Franciosa and Raquel Welch, as Fathom; at the De Valence Pavilion: Pop dancing to The Dreaded Spectres.
