June 24, 1966: Although there had been a 40 per cent drop in the number of convictions in the county, Pembrokeshire had again topped the list for drunkenness. That was according to national statistics.
Trophy winners at Tenby County Primary School’s annual athletics sports were Elaine Hammersley, Philip Morgan, Sally Evans, Julia Powling, Stephen Martin, Robert Ormond, Richard James.
Tenby, which had always had a wonderful record for fundraising for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, surpassed all previous results in 1965. The annual RNLI report revealed that Tenby collected £2,266. That magnificent sum exceeded even the figure for the centenary year of the Tenby station. It compared with around £1,900 the previous year. What delighted the Tenby Lifeboat workers was that their 1965 effort topped the whole of Wales.
A plan to demolish an existing garage and store in St. Mary’s Street, Tenby, and erect in its place a four-storey block of 10 flats was put forward by the Car Exchange Ltd.
Mrs. Francis Lewis, a founder member of Tenby Inner Wheel Club, was installed as chairman of District 15 of the Inner Wheel.
