Longstanding Whitland town councillor, Clr. Ron Jenkins MBE, of Delgar, West Street, took over as the town's new Mayor this week.

At the traditional Mayor-making ceremony on Tuesday evening, Clr. Jenkins, who has served as the town's First Citizen on four previous occasions, was presented with the chain of office by outgoing Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Madeline Phillips.

Serving as Clr. Jenkins's deputy is Clr. Diane Evans, manageress of the Whitland branch of the Carmarthen and Pumpsaint Farmers.

A member of the council for the last eight years, Clr. Evans, of Buckingham House, Market Street, is pictured above with Clr. Jenkins.
