Llysyfran YFC continued to prove they are outstanding in the field, after winning the Pembrokeshire YFC Field Day and having a club member named county YFC Queen for the second year running. New county queen Ros Bushell took one of YFC's most prestigious titles at the Field Day held at Trenewydd Fawr, Croesgoch, on Saturday, April 12. Ros's attendants, who were selected from a superb entry of 18 girls, are fellow club member Katie Davies, Alice James, from Llawhaden, Angharad Llewelyn, South Pembs and Ruth Morgan, Fishguard. Also taking home the county's top honours were Brawdy's Michael Harries, who was named Young Farmer of the Year, and Tania Hancock, of Keyston YFC, who is the new junior member of the year. Dill Williams added: "To be chosen from more than 600 members as the best senior and junior young farmers in the county is a tremendous achievement and one which only comes after a lot of hard work and participation in YFC at every level." With wins in the efficiency with safety, tractor handling and taking the top four places in the stockman of the year competition, where Catrin Vaughan just emerged the winner over her club members, Llysyfran had a real field day once again. Eglwyswrw were placed second, winning the junior nature trail and with Harri Davies named young stockjudge of the year, and Clynderwen were placed third after winning the fencing competition. Llawhaden won the junior safety, the ATV competition went to South Pembs and Eglwyswrw won the 4x4 livestock box challenge. The winners will now go on to represent Pembrokeshire at the Wales YFC Field Day in Builth Wells on April 26.
