Last Friday, the Quaynotes choir, led by musical director Sharron Lusher, began their season of festive concerts with a performance at Wesley Chapel, Carew.
The lovely old building, with all pews taken, was the perfect place to get the Christmas celebrations underway.
With music by Rutter, Leroy Anderson and Bach, to name but a few, the choir were in fine voice while starting the evening.
The congregation carols, with so many fine voices present, were a treat in their own right.
Bronwen Hicks delighted everyone present with a lovely version of the Welsh carol Nadolig Pwy a Wyr. Ron Rees and Mel Hicks combined to sing the evergreen hit Winter's Tale and Margaret Richards and Elaine Williams sang O Little Town of Bethlehem.
Tenor soloist Ray Hughes, with choir and pianist Eileen Thomas in close pursuit, entertained with his own interpretation of O Holy Night. Carol Cole, with the choir humming in the background, performed a poem about the meaning of Christmas, that she had written especially for the choir.
Very moving, and the highlight of a very successful evening.
With a word of thanks from Deric Brock, and refreshments for everyone, a grand time was had by one and all.
