Kilgetty's dazzling Christmas lights raised the magnificent sum of £14,142 for charity.

The Paul Sartori Foundation and the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, will share the proceeds collected from well-wishers to Peter and Audrey Thomas's festive lights display. "In the last week alone we raised £3,000, which is a record in itself," said Peter, of 1 St. Mary's Place, who is now retiring after switching off the lights for the last time on Saturday.

"It is a fantastic sum and we cannot thank people enough for their generosity," he said. "I started taking the lights down on Sunday morning when it was still dark and I must admit I am feeling quite sad as the garden and house does look bare now."
