Before getting underway with their Christmas activities at Sunnybank Residential Home, some of the residents, under the guiding hand of carer Margaret Evans, entered various handicraft items into the Horticultural Craft Fayre at Narberth School in November. As in previous years, they had several prizes to bring back to the home.

The staff were also busy in early December filling shoe-boxes with Christmas gifts to send to children abroad, via the Samaritan Purse Scheme. The photograph shows some of the staff and their boxes.

The home, as usual, had been beautifully decorated inside and out by the staff and festivities got underway with the Whitland Male Voice Choir on December 4.

The following day the Kings Fellowship, accompanied by Bongo Clive, provided 'lively' entertainment which was thoroughly enjoyed by the residents.

Saturday, December 6, was the turn of Roch Choir to visit the home and Sunday, December 7, Friends in Harmony made their annual visit.

The following day several residents, accompanied by staff, travelled to Whitland to see the school's production of 'My Fair Lady', while the next day it was down to the Queen's Hall to the Christmas Tea Dance.

Thursday, December 11, Narberth and Whitland Rotary Club entertained the residents and distributed presents and Saturday, December 13, it was the turn of Heart and Soul.

Tuesday, Decedmber 16, was a busy day with the children from Narberth School performing some of their Christmas items in the morning, an event always enjoyed by the residents. In the evening, friends and family of the residents joined them for a beautiful buffet supper, prepared by Constance and the kitchen staff, followed by entertainment. The MC for the evening was Clr. Wynne Evans and Norma Lewis played the piano for the various items. Eddie McCabe also played the accordion.

During the evening, the annual Christmas raffle was drawn and Mrs. Staniland, of Llanddewi Velfrey, was the lucky winner of the Christmas hamper.

The following day it was out to Christmas lunch at Tavernspite Garden Centre, where Mrs. Webb and her staff provided residents and accompanying staff with a beautiful meal.

Two trips were made out to see the Christmas lights in Kilgetty and surrounding areas. As always this was thoroughly enjoyed by the residents.

On Christmas Eve, the Rev. Lewis attended the home for a carol service and communion. This was followed by sherry and mince pies and then early to bed to await the big day!

On Christmas Day, the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Rees, visited the home early, closely followed by Father Christmas, who distributed presents to all the residents.

The home manager, Mrs. Coaker, called in to wish the residents and staff a happy Christmas and Mr. Coaker carved the turkey, which was then served as part of a beautiful Christmas lunch served by Constance and the staff.

Mrs. Coaker and staff would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to making Christmas such a success and in particular all those who contributed to the raffle and the ongoing fund-raising which is supporting the running of the minibus which has been purchased by the home during the last year.
