The venue for the Tango Workshop in the Tenby Arts Festival has had to change for more reasons than one. The original Tango Dancers are victims of marital strife and have vowed never to see each other again, so the festival has had to search far and wide to find more tango experts and is glad to say that it has found two expert dancers closer to home.
The De Valance Pavilion was the original venue for the workshop, but that is now abuzz with preparation for The Gala evening of some of the champion-winning musicians in Wales.
Once again, Graham Fry, of the Royal Gatehouse Hotel, has stepped into the breach with the offer of his ballroom for the Tango Workshop (4 pm, Friday, September 23).
The Gatehouse has been a venue used over the years by the festival for dance and events of all varieties. A splendid Indian Dance Workshop was held there; plays have been performed there and the annual close of the festival by the Memphis Seven, on the last Saturday night, has been held there in its atmospheric ballroom.
Mr. Fry is generous with his space and makes no charge to the festival for this facility.
The festival's new venture of showing classic vintage films (launched last year) is made possible by the generous sponsorship of Mr. Fry - this year's screenings (as reported in last week's Tenby Observer) consist of the pick of the Ealing Comedies.
