It is barely eight months since the final curtain fell on the 2007 Tenby Arts Festival. That festival was rated by 'The Times' as 'among the top five festivals in the UK' at the time. Since then, the festival committee have been beavering away on the 2008 outline, and are now ready to reveal that full comprehensive programme. Indeed, seeds were sown some time before the 2007 opening as it is not possible to attract top names at under a year's notice, such is the demand for those. Certainly, there are top names this year. Without attempting to catalogue all the artistes, Julian Lloyd Webber and Noriko Ogawa are two that roll off the tongue. The full list covers the widest tastes in music, theatre, film, dance and the creative arts. Website whizzkids can obtain full details of the programme at http://www.tenbyartsfest.co.uk">www.tenbyartsfest.co.uk. Alternatively, further information is available by 'phoning the secretary on (01834) 845341. Sponsorship from companies and individuals of the Pembrokeshire populace has been wonderful. The festival committee would be delighted to welcome those and potential friends of the festival to their candlelight supper, next Friday, June 20, at Church House. Tickets are priced at £12 each, and can be reserved on the telephone on the number quoted above. These will earn you an appetising two-course meal and coffee, as food for the body; and food for the soul provided by the 'Stringdipity' String Trio from Greenhill School. Next month, these three young ladies will be playing in the showcase finale of the National Festival of Music for Youth, as members of the Greenhill School orchestra and/or the Pembrokeshire Chamber Orchestra. That takes place in the Symphony Hall, Birmingham.
