The weekend of June 13-15 will see an event of the first of its kind happening in Angle. 'Going to the West Fest', Pembrokeshire's first ever festival of old-time American music and dance will bring to the area top artists from Ireland, England, the USA, Scotland and Wales. Many people will be familiar with old-time music through the films 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou' and 'Cold Mountain'. This festival will bring to Angle the sounds of fiddles, banjos, guitars and feet, amongst other things, for a weekend of exuberant enjoyment with top artists, including concerts, dances, workshops, jams and an open stage, giving anyone an opportunity to show and improve their musical talents. The festival will also be the band Moonshine's first appearance in the UK. Based in Ireland, the trio features Frank Hall from Indiana, Lena Ullman from Sweden and the legendary Johnny Moynihan (De Danaan, Planxty, Sweeney's Men) from Ireland. Other artists include Sara Grey and Ben Paley, Jock Tyldesley and Vera van Heeringen, The Kittyhawks and local band The Grumpy Bush String Band. All are welcome, with concession and family tickets available. It is hoped that this event will be a success and become a regular happening, adding a great deal to Pembrokeshire's musical calendar.
