Sir,
As an owner of an electric wheelchair, I write in
response to your article in last week's issue of the Tenby
Observer.
I try to plan my journey, I am a resident - pity the
poor visitor who has no previous knowledge of the area.
Years ago, I was told it was not policy in Tenby to
make dropped kerbs visible with orange markings!
One of the worst offending parts is near the Post
Office. It is often difficult to get on the pavement to use
the pelican crossing. Another hazardous area is coming
from the Marsh Road to use the crossing at the garage,
where one has to negotiate past 'herring-bone for sale
cars' parked on the pavement. They only just give room
for the vehicle to pass. This is a direct route to the
doctors surgery and hospital, from the Penally, Knowling
Mead area.
I wish VIP Pathways well with their efforts, and would
applaud them if they can supply a map of the crossings
available. Tenby needs to welcome its visitors with all the
help given to enjoy themselves.
90-year-old pensioner
and buggy user,
Penally
