FBM held their first every Charity Ball in aid of the Gareth Scotcher Trust. The event, which took place at the Plas Hyfryd Hotel, Narberth, on Friday, October 5, was a sell-out.

Over 130 guests enjoyed a champagne reception kindly sponsored by Roy Roberts, of Celtic Wines. This was followed by a delicious three-course meal expertly prepared by the Plas Hyfryd team. After-dinner entertainment was provided by top comedian Owen Money, who was surely the highlight of the evening.

The night was expertly compered by sporting guru, Bill Carne, who also organised the raffle, kings and queens, as well as auctioning off several lots. The main auction was conducted by FBM's own Dominic Subbiani. There were 29 lots, including an inclusive week's skiing, kindly donated by Pam Subbiani and Heather Duffield, which raised £875; two tickets for any event at Wembley donated by the Mortgage Advice Bureau, which achieved £1,000; a signed Arsenal team photo donated by the Gunners that achieved £800 and signed Joe Calzage boxing gloves, which also raised £800. An additional lot was added by an anonymous benefactor during the evening of a week at a four- bed luxury villa, which raised a further £900. In total, the auction raised a staggering £10,000, taking the total amount raised by the FBM team to £16,000.

Dominic Subbiani, partner at FBM, commented "I would like to take the opportunity to thank David and Jackie Jones for all their advice and sponsoring the wine, water and meal for 10 at the auction and overseeing an excellent evening. I wish to thank Roy at Celtic Wines for sponsoring the champagne reception and all those who kindly attended and got involved in the spirit of the auction. Thanks to Owen Money and, of course, Mr. Bill Carne for his assistance in obtaining numerous auction lots, raising money through his sponsored diet and for compering the evening. I would also like to extend my gratitude for the work and effort in the background by Yvonne Astles and Jane Beesley."

The money has been raised for the Gareth Scotcher Trust Fund. Sadly, three years ago Gareth was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. Gareth is only 37 and the trust has been set up to ensure the future of his family, his wife Hayley and their children, Dylan (7) and Daisy (4).
