ONE of designer Leah Hughes's favourite hotels will feature on the S4C series 04 Wal: Gwestai'r Byd on Tuesday, April 20, as she looks at the design of hotels all over the world.
Leah, who comes originally from Ruthin and now lives in Cardiff, will be visiting Saundersfoot's St. Brides Hotel, which enjoys a fantastic location, looking down on the beautiful beach and harbour.
As series presenter Aled Samuel says: "The hotel's main glory is the stunning view." Leah also appreciates the careful design of the building. "There's something restful about the design, it's relaxing, there's no need for excitement. It appeals to all of the senses, and creates an holistic experience."
Since graduating with a degree in 3D design from Leeds' Metropolitan University, Leah has worked in the Vitra Design Museum Workshop in Boisbuchet, France, and has displayed her furniture work in Brick Lane, London, and Covent Garden. She has also designed for a commercial interior design company within the leisure industry and for the Eastlake Group, one of Britain's largest interior design companies.
As well as working on 04 Wal, Leah has also been working as a celebration organiser on another S4C series, helping people to mark special events, Dathlu.
"I've been very busy, but I'm really enjoying it," she says. "I'm getting the opportunity to meet so many lovely people."
04 Wal: Gwestai'r Byd will be screened on Tuesday, April 20, at 9.45 pm, and Sunday, April 25, at 5 pm, with on-screen English subtitles.
