Last Sunday afternoon, SI Tenby held their annual fashion show in the stylish dining room at the Giltar Hotel. The purpose of the event was to raise funds for local charities such as Friends of the Community, The Scouts and Guides Trust, the Harriet Davis Trust and individuals participating in charitable ventures; for example, sponsored walks and educational projects.
The show was held in conjunction with T. P. Hughes, Tenby. The generous co-operation of the management and staff of this well-loved Tenby store ensured that all enjoyed a delightful afternoon as guests enjoyed a dazzling parade of the latest in fashion and leisurewear. The chic models showcased a wide range of clothing, all available from T. P. Hughes, in styles to suit all ages, tastes and budgets
The models were recruited from both SI Tenby and Tenby Ladies Circle and included SI members Wendy Bell, Marjorie Piper, Pam Maggs and Pat Matthews, as well as Ladies Circlers Louise Bradley, Jess Bradley and Cath Morgan. Ladies Circle also kindly provided a make-up artist, Rachel Ruff, for the occasion. The stylish models expertly strode amongst the guests, with matching accessories and jewellery also provided by T. P. Hughes, whilst SI Tenby social secretary Eleanor Parker provided an entertaining commentary on the varied and stylish outfits.
After the show, guests enjoyed a sumptuous Victorian tea which included a seemingly never-ending array of delicious cakes, pastries and savouries accompanied by unlimited cups of good Welsh tea
The event raised well over £300 for local charities and all agreed that it had been a most enjoyable and worthwhile way to pass the time on a grey October afternoon in the luxurious surroundings of the Giltar Hotel. A jewellery display was also provided by SI member Dilys Jenkinson.
On behalf of SI Tenby, president Dr. Anne Kelly would like to thank everyone who helped to make the occasion such a success, especially T. P. Hughes and Son, the models from Ladies Circle, and photographer Ray Hine who kindly gave up his Sunday afternoon in order to provide a wonderful photographic record of the event. Finally, grateful thanks are extended as always to Malcolm, Patrick and their staff at the Giltar Hotel for the superb hospitality.
SI Tenby's next charity event is a coffee morning and Christmas fair at the Church House on Saturday, November 1, at 10 am. Again, all proceeds will be donated to local charities.
