Sir,
I write to express my appreciation of Elinor Evans's account of her work and experiences in Southern India, in last week's Observer. What a mature piece of writing offering fascinating insights into 'what India is really like' for one so relatively young - even taking into account the fact of Elinor's English degree.
Elinor is to be congratulated on her 'get up and go' outlook and lateral thinking in refusing to see the lack of employment opportunities in the UK as an insurmountable obstacle. Surely this attitude, besides the CV information Elinor's Indian experiences are adding to, must augur well for her with a future employer.
Apart from journalism, it seems to me that writing travel books could easily be 'another string to Elinor's bow' and I look forward eagerly to the next instalment of her 'Travellers Tales'.
Ruthie Alton,
