It was a sad farewell to the Penally Country Market this week following 28 years of providing the community with a variety of items to buy. The WI Market started in the old Village Hall back in 1979 and then continued in the new hall five years later. They have remained open every Wednesday morning during the summer months, serving teas and refreshments and selling a wide variety of homemade cakes and preserves, along with vegetables, plants, craft items, paintings and handmade cards. Wednesday mornings in Penally became a meeting place for locals and holidaymakers alike, to enjoy a cuppa while having a chat and having a look around the stalls. Unfortunately, with a decline in visitors, the market has struggled to stay open and sadly finally closed its doors on Wednesday. The Village Hall management committee would like to thank the market for supporting the hall for the past 28 years and giving the locals and visitors a reason to use the hall - Wednesday mornings will never be the same! The Village Hall in Penally is available for hire. Please contact Mavis on 01834 845345 for further details.
