A ‘fantastic day’ was had by all that took part in this year’s rescheduled Carten100 - Cardiff to Tenby charity ride that took place last weekend, with the weather forecast with the riders this time.

2019 has been a memorable year for the Carten100, it really tested the crew as it was the first time they have ever had to reschedule following storm Hannah’s arrival on the original date of the ride in the April.

Organiser Peter Palmer said: “Luckily we work with some fantastic people across the 107 mile route whom helped us secure the new date of June 2.

“What followed this weekend was a fantastic day had by all our riders, volunteers and supporters.

“We really got the weather right this time and the atmosphere was terrific with the camaraderie that we have come to know at the Carten.”

Finishers this year ranged from the youngest ever rider aged 11 as well as cyclist, ‘Dom Edwards’ fundraising for British Heart Foundation whom left Tenby at 9 pm Friday night and returned on the Carten the next day.

There was also the first next ‘Boris’ bike - a Penny Farthing ridden by, ‘Steve Penpraze’, as well as new and familiar faces enjoying the ethos of the Carten - a ride not a race!

David Stealey from Carten also commented: “We know our event is a bit different, it’s not a timed race and we encourage all to take part, we also work closely with our chosen charity’s, this year Prostate Cymru, Jo’s Trust and Llamau all whom volunteered to help us on the day, but finally I’d like to take the chance to again thank all our riders whom year on year bring the Carten to life making it the ride that it is”.

Next year’s ride is scheduled for May 9 and places will be on sale in December 2019.
