Participants in the Health Challenge Pembrokeshire Family Challenge programme have been rewarded for their efforts at a presentation evening. The Family Challenge Programme was a 12-week health and well-being pilot project aimed at families. Each family had an individual programme to suit their needs, including walking, swimming and healthy eating, as well as other activities. Clr. Sian James, cabinet member for health and social well-being presented certificates to families for completing the 12-week challenge and congratulated them for their efforts. "The Family Challenge project was set up by Health Challenge Pembrokeshire to encourage and support families to make lifestyle changes to improve their health and well-being," she said. "The main aim of the programme was to show people how they can make these changes and sustain them in the longer term." Katie Daly, project manager said families saw health benefits by making even a few small changes to their lifestyles. "These small changes will result in better health and well-being for the future," she said. Tesco in Haverfordwest donated a healthy hamper to each family taking part in the programme, while the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society donated family entry tickets for this year's County Show. Health Challenge Pembrokeshire has been developed by Pembrokeshire County Council and the Pembrokeshire Local Health Board, in partnership with Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust, the National Public Health Service, Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services and Pembrokeshire Community Health Council.

The families taking part in the programme are pictured at the presentation evening at the Picton Centre with Clr. Sian James and Lennie the Leek, as well as some of the health visitors who supported the programme.
