Members of the Cardiff University Choir and Orchestra, performing in Pembrokeshire, tomorrow (Saturday) will include some familiar faces.
Undergraduate student Jessica Cale will be performing a soprano solo in the concert at St. David's Cathedral - a familiar venue for the 20-year-old singer from Haverfordwest.
Jessica, who began her music degree at Cardiff University in September 2011, has already sung with the Tempus Vocal Group in Pembrokeshire, the John S. Davies Singers in Cardiff and the National Youth Choir.
Discussing her university experience so far, Jessica said: "The School of Music here offers students so many performance opportunities, it's a great way to prepare singers and musicians for future industry careers. It's not just the performance opportunities, though, that attracted me to Cardiff; it's the balance of theory and practice. I really wanted to experience the academic side of music, as well as performance. I want to be better able to understand pieces I'm singing."
Other members of the University Choir include undergraduate students Phylip Nichols, Alex Thompson and Ciaran Yeo, who have all benefited from choral scholarships at St. David's.
The concert will present two popular masterpieces from the 18th century, Vivaldi's evocative The Four Seasons and Mozart's 'Coronation' mass. The concert begins at 7 pm. Tickets (£8, £5) can be purchased by phone (03700 101051 for a bilingual box office) or online at http://www.ticketsource.co.uk/cardiffmusic">www.ticketsource.co.uk/cardiffmusic .
