Coastguards from Tenby were called into action last Thursday afternoon after a fishing boat was reported in difficulties in Caldey Roads.
The alarm was raised at approximately 4.30 pm when a barman at the Imperial Hotel reported seeing a vessel dormant in the water for longer than he thought safe.
On arrival at the scene, coastguards found that the vessel, the locally-based 'Freddy John', was underway again.
On arrival back in the harbour, the coastguards spoke with the fisherman on board, who explained that he had been shooting pots in readiness for the new whelk season and one of the lines had become tangled.
The fisherman had dealt with the problem and the call was treated as a false alarm with good intent.
