The sun shone brightly on Friday 13th last week for our first birthday at Lamphey Court Hotel. It was hard to believe that the year has flown by so quickly.
Members gathered together at 1 pm for an afternoon of bridge, awards, prizes, joyous laughter and more!
We had 50 people served a beautiful Afternoon Tea in the conservatory, and a special thank you to all staff was given for a delightful selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes.
2017/2018 special recognition awards and gifts were presented to the following: best dressed award - Perry Crickmere (who looked absolutely amazing on the day); most attended player (94 out of 101 sessions) - Cindy Middleton; best pair for highest percentage - Matt and Sarah Greener 73.18 per cent (November 2017); most improved player from the beginners class - Dr. John Bowen; ‘Player of the Year’ (averaging 59.18 per cent) - Tony Cookson.
There were 14 raffle prizes won by various members, too many to mention. Acknowledgements and gifts were also presented to Liz Crockford, Judy Lewis, Kevin Thomas and Lyn Lawson.
The £50 cash prize (last person sitting) went to a delighted Lyn Berend.
During the course of the afternoon, a 12-table individual movement was played in the Ruby Room and the overall ‘winners’ of the afternoon were: joint 1. Annabelle Greenhalgh and Jane Jeffs; 2. Ann Nelson; 3. Irene Warlow.
Our bottle of M&S Champagne ‘booby prize’ went home with our lovely Judith Graham Jones to Haverfordwest.
Thank you speeches were given by Irene Delahunty, Dr. John Bowen and Kevin Thomas.
Pembroke Bridge Club play duplicate bridge on Tuesday evenings at 6.30 pm and Friday afternoons starting at 1 pm in Lamphey Court Hotel. Should you be a visitor to the area, please come along and play, we will always have a partner available.
We also hold bridge lessons on Wednesday mornings at 10 am in Kilgetty Community Hall. New members welcome.
