The fund-raising committee of Tenby RNLI welcomed many of their supporters to an afternoon of fabulous fashion and delicious tea at the Imperial, Hotel, Tenby, on Sunday, October 8. The sunshine of the day was an added bonus and enhanced the beautiful surroundings and spectacular views enjoyed from the restaurant at The Imperial, ensuring that there was a friendly buzz from the audience right from the start.

The clothes on show were from Jago’s, M & Co and Morris Bros, and they were expertly modelled by members of the committee and friends, including some very excited younger supporters. All the models performed with an almost professional ease and the audience was pleasantly surprised by the variety of clothes for all occasions that are available in local stores.

Our models ranged in age from the redoubtable Doreen Mortimer, manager of the RNLI shop and champion collector, to little Ivy Edmunds, grand-daughter of Jayne Hughes, minute secretary and long-standing member of the RNLI.

The clothes took our audience from day wear to the glitz of party wear, ending with wonderfully warm and weatherproof coats from Morris Bros. We were treated, at the finalé, to a guest appearance from coxswain Phil John in full lifeboat gear accompanied by son Dylan, who had bravely agreed to model along with Madoc, grandson of chairman, Nicole Evans. It was a privilege to have three generations of a true lifeboat family taking part as our president Shan is, of course, mother to Phil and grandmother to Dylan and Imogen

Our thanks go to all the models, Shan Thomas, Liz Green, Vickie Chiffi, Sylvie Morgan, Julie Jenkins, Doreen Mortimer, Barbara Pegg, Daisy Edmunds, Janet Crockford and Charlotte Martin, along with children, Imogen, Dylan, Madoc, Ivy, Elsabeth, Ocean, Blossom, Winnie, Martha and Isla. Special mention must be made of Luc Jenkins, son of Julie, our lone, brave male model!.

Grateful thanks, too, to the backroom staff of Jayne Hughes, Jan Evans, Eirwen Cole and Heather McIlwraith who kept everything going so smoothly, and to Chris Moore for the raffle. Prizewinners were: flight over Pembrokeshire (donated by John Fisher) - daughter of Liz Green; luxury Hamper - Sue Broomehead: meal for two donated by The Imperial - Rosemary Evans: Christmas cake (donated by Lindy Wainwright) - Judy Brew .

We are also grateful to the Harbourmaster for the use of the sound system which meant compere, Nicole Evans, could be heard throughout the room.

Final thanks go to Bianca and the staff at The Imperial for their hard work and kindness, and, of course, to Kate from Jago’s, Katherine from Morris Bros and all the staff at M & Co. Their support and the effort they put in to the show contributed to the success that it surely was, and to raising over £650 for the RNLI.
