The UKTI ‘Exporting is GREAT’ roadshow started its tour of the devolved nations with a visit to Pembroke Dock on Monday.
To launch the Welsh leg of the tour, Edwina Hart AM, Minister for Economy Science and Transport and Lord Maude, Minister of State for Trade and Investment, were joined at the Bridge Innovation Centre by local politicians and businesses from across South-West Wales.
Speaking to representatives from businesses of all sizes, both Ministers reminded them that the UK has a strong history of trading overseas.
They stressed the benefits of exporting and reminded people that selling on the internet often means a company is exporting without really thinking about it.
The business people present were encouraged to visit the mobile exporting exhibition van where experts were on hand to give advice about export markets, finance and other matters relating to exporting.
Pembrokeshire County Council’s deputy leader and cabinet member for economy and communities, Clr. Keith Lewis, said: “I am delighted that the county was chosen to launch this high profile tour and the interest it generated in the business community.
“Any business in Pembrokeshire wanting information about exporting or developing their UK markets should contact the council’s regeneration team and ask for Tony Streatfield or Michelle Francis.”
He added they could also visit the Business Wales website www.businesswales.gov.wales
After visiting Pembrokeshire, the roadshow is to spend two weeks travelling around Wales before going to Scotland and Northern Ireland.
