The Tenby Town Rider Scheme is going to be extended to include Kilgetty. The free dial-a-ride service already operates in Tenby, Saundersfoot, New Hedges, and Penally. The services uses a wheelchair-accessible vehicle, and is for local elderly and disabled residents who are eligible for a bus pass, but find it difficult to use the bus. As a result of the expansion, the days and times that the service runs will change. From April 23, the Tenby Town Rider will run on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm. Passengers are picked up from their home, or any convenient place, and are taken wherever they need to go in their local town. The driver is on hand to help passengers board and alight. The scheme operates on a 'first come, first served' basis. Passengers must book by 3 pm the day before they want to travel (3 pm on Friday for journeys on a Monday) by calling the freephone number 0800 783 1584. They can book their journey up to a week in advance and the more notice they can give, the better. The service is run by Pembrokeshire Association of Community Transport Organisations (PACTO) in partnership with Pembrokeshire County Council. It is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government as part of their Community Transport Concessionary Fares Initiative.
