AN exhibition of new watercolours by Naomi Tydeman opens on Sunday at 12 noon, in her gallery in Cobb Lane, Tenby.
Naomi has been working towards this show for the last year or so, featuring atmospheric pictures of Pembrokeshire, including images of 'the walk to work'.
Living in Saundersfoot, she often walks the four-and-a-half miles of coast path into Tenby, and this has become a theme within the show.
Other paintings are a result of a recent trip to India where colour and light were overwhelming, inspiring paintings of intense contrasts.
"I hired a car and a driver who smoothed the way for me to sketch and photograph in silk factories, paddy fields, flower markets, laundries, temples and palaces, and I was also honoured to attend a slum family wedding. It was just colour, colour, colour."
Naomi was recently exhibiting in London alongside Singer Sargent, Whistler and Degas at the Pure Gold Exhibition celebrating 50 years of the Federation of British Artists and was featured on the cover of the RI catalogue last month.
She has won many prizes for her evocative watercolours, including the John Blockley Prize and the Winsor and Newton Prize, has written many articles for books and magazines and has paintings in private collections around the world.
