On March 1, Tenby Male Choir embarks on another very full programme of concerts. At the recent annual lunch attended by choir president Roy Noble and his wife Elaine, chairman, Terry Evans, reflected on a very busy 2011 and looked forward to another exciting year when a revamped repertoire is to be introduced.
As mentioned, the choir starts the new season with a concert on St. David's Day at St. Johns, Tenby, commencing at 8 pm. This year we are hosting two visiting choirs, the Australian Welsh, on Saturday, March 31, and Pendyrus Male Choir on Saturday, June 23, both concerts at St. Mary's. As well as our usual busy season of concerts locally, we are also performing at Dudley, Ledbury and Brecon Cathedral, such is the demand for our services.
The choir has 50 members in total, with an average of 35 to 40 staging per concert. We are always on the lookout for new recruits - if anyone is interested in joining us then come along to our rehearsals on Tuesdays or Thursdays and have a go. We start at 8 pm and you will be most welcome - you'll find us at the Tenby and County Club situated on the
Croft. Of course, we could not perform anywhere without the services of two very talented and gifted musicians - the choir is indebted to our music director, Ian Williams, and our accompanist, Jill Williams. A rare duo indeed!
The choir enjoys a great social scene, which is mainly promoted by the ladies support group. In fact, there is a cheese, cawl and quiz evening taking place this (Friday) evening at the County Club, commencing at 7.30 pm. Anyone wishing to partake of chairman, Terry Evans's, legendary cawl is welcome to come along.
Tenby Male Choir have proved to be great ambassadors for the town and we are proud of our achievements and reputation both near and far. We look forward in anticipation to a vey successful 2012.
