The new season at Manorbier Castle has already had a bumper start. The Easter Egg Hunt was a great success, with about 70 children doing their best to find as many golf tees as possible - these were exchanged for eggs at the end of the hunt.
There were two age groups - three to eight years and nine to 14 years. The child with the most tees in the two groups received a large Easter Egg each. Winner of the younger group was five-year-old Tori Mae Humphreys, of Swansea, while winner of the older group was Tom Brierley, 13, of Stourbridge. There has also been another exciting innovation. A lot of people have enquired over recent years as to whether it was possible for marriages to take place in such a the beautiful setting. So it was decided to look into the possibility of the castle being licensed.
The owners are delighted to announce confirmation has just been received that a civil marriage/ partnership licence has granted for four different rooms in the castle environs. There are several enquiries already in the pipeline.
Readers may be interested to know that during the summer period, four organisations have been granted permission to use the castle and grounds for fund-raising activities in aid of various charities.
These are:
Saturday, June 18 - Manorbier Community Association; Wednesday, July 26 - Tenby Rotary Club, Medieval Fayre; Tuesday, August 1 - Manorbier Church Fete; Sunday, August 13 - Pembroke Rotary Club.
Keep an eye out for these events and also the other exciting happenings taking place during the summer months.
