This year's Open Week tournament at Pembroke Dock Bowling Club, well organised by Mr. Gerard Thomas, was blessed with very good weather which was enjoyed by all bowlers and spectators alike.

The club has always put on a superb Open Week, with not only its wonderful hospitality, but with its catering, which is second to none within the bowling fraternity.

This was the 66th consecutive Open Week held by the club, with the first commencing in June 1945. The two main cups are the Alfred Phillips Bowl and the Sudbury Bowl.

The Texaco Shield comes into play later on in the week for competitors who have been eliminated from the main events.

There was some exceptional bowling from all the finalists, who thought the green ran superbly, and thanks must go to the green staff for all the sterling work put in to make the week such a success.

In the final of the Sudbury Bowl, Gerald Harris. of Pembroke Dock BC, beat Tudor Harries. of Pembroke Dock BC. in a very closely contested final 21-20.

In the final of the Alfred Phillips Bowl, Barrie Absalom, of Haverfordwest BC, beat Brian Cale, of Pembroke Dock BC, 21-17.

In the final of the Texaco Shield, Brian Dowling, of Pembroke Dock BC, beat Reg Thomas, of Pembroke Dock BC, 21-13.

After the main presentations to the winners and runners-uo, with the presentations being carried out by Mr. Jack Turley who is the oldest playing member at 87 years young, a sit-down buffet was held in the clubhouse, along with a raffle, all donated by various club members and non-members of Pembroke Dock Bowling Club.
