Whitland ATC Squadron had a surprise visit when a former cadet, Second Lieutenant Charlie Diamond, of the Royal Gurkhas Rifles, visited and spoke to the cadets about his training and experiences since joining the Army.
Charlie, a former pupil at Dyffrn Taf School, Whitland, has just returned from training at the infantry battle school in Brecon and is looking forward to a posting to the Kingdom of Brunei.
This coming weekend, Whitland Sqn will be attending the Wing Athletics Trials, held at Carmarthen Leisure Centre. The wing athletics team will be selected from this event. The event is made up of most track and field based events.
This (Friday) evening is the final parade for Cadet Flight Sergeant Tom Walker. Tom, a former pupil of Ysgol y Preseli, is leaving the Sqn after nearly five years. to join the Royal Marines. He commences 32 weeks of RM recruit training at Commando Training Centre, Lympstone, near Exeter, on April 22.
The Air Training Corps is a national voluntary youth organisation, open to young men and women aged between 13 and 20. Flying, gliding, sports, shooting and adventure training are some of the activities that cadets participate in.
