An update was recently given to Saundersfoot Community Council members by the Sensory Garden and Grounds Working Party.

Reporting on matters, Clr. Martyn Williams BEM said that the Grounds Working Party had been updated on the development of the area between the garden and the Coal Office and everything seemed to be ‘going to plan’.

“The brick pavers have been laid as have the sleepers but looking for the water pipe has meant that pavers and sleepers have had to be temporarily removed. They have yet to complete the wall opposite Periwinkle and I am confident that the area will not be used as a short cut over greenery,” explained Clr. Williams.

“The garden is reasonably colourful for the time of year and spring plants will soon provide more colour. Griffin Landscapes will start work in the garden on February 21 and are expecting to complete the work within two weeks.”

Clr. Williams said that Smart Gardens were due to prune the Holm oaks shortly; and that the white beam trees (opposite the Spar store) had been removed, with both stumps in need of ‘grinding’.

The removal of the two beams facing the car park were on the list of ‘to do’ jobs.

The water pipe leak, on the cricket field had been repaired, he added.

At the same meeting, Clr. Rosemary Hayes MBE on behalf of the Saundersfoot in Bloom, advised that the Community Council owned planter, placed outside the Fish and Chip Shop, had been damaged beyond repair and had now been removed.

It was proposed that the council liaise with Mrs. Ludlow (who plants the pots) regarding the design and a replacement recycled planter, at a cost of £100.
