Marten Lewis, Bluestone’s director of sustainability, met King Charles III and the Princess Royal at Windsor Castle recently, at a reception for winners of The King’s Awards for Enterprise.
On Thursday, June 12, 2025, His Majesty The King, accompanied by the Princess Royal, hosted a reception for recipients of The King’s Awards for Enterprise, at Windsor Castle. And Pembrokeshire’s Bluestone National Park Resort, represented by its director of sustainability Marten Lewis, was personally congratulated by King Charles III for its outstanding achievements as a UK business in sustainable development.
Instituted by Royal Warrant in 1965, the Awards are the most prestigious business awards in the United Kingdom, with recipients recognised as being among the best of British businesses.
Bluestone earned the award recognition by demonstrating progress in several key areas, including cutting carbon emissions, transitioning to a fossil fuel-free operation, embracing circular economy practices, investing in and assisting local communities, and sharing best practice via its operational blueprint. In doing so, Bluestone has become the first resort in the UK to receive a Kings Award for Enterprise.

Bluestone National Park Resort founder and CEO William McNamara said:
“My vision back in 2004 was to create a regenerative tourism family holiday resort with an ethos of making people happy naturally, and looking after people and our planet at its core. Today, having Bluestone’s work and achievements recognised at the highest level through The King’s Awards for Enterprise in sustainable development is a hugely exciting and rewarding milestone for everyone at the resort.
We have worked incredibly hard, and continue to, nurturing an authentic company culture where team members at all levels take responsibility for continuous improvement in sustainability. All businesses, and individuals, have a part to play amid the present climate and nature emergencies. This Award is evidence that we are taking strides in the right direction.”
