CWM Arian Renewable Energy will host a stand at this year's Eisteddfod y Garreg Las, an event expecting 175,000 visitors to celebrate Welsh culture.
The Eisteddfod takes place between August 1 and 8 at Llantwd in North Pembrokeshire.
The 2026 festival holds particular historical significance, marking the 850th anniversary of the first recorded Eisteddfod, held in 1176 at Castell Aberteifi. With this year’s Maes located close to the original site, the event is expected to be a landmark occasion for the region and for Wales as a whole.
The National Eisteddfod is the largest cultural festival in Europe and one of the most prominent events in the Welsh cultural calendar, attracting approximately 175,000 visitors annually. The festival celebrates Welsh language, literature, music, and the arts, with a diverse programme of competitions, performances, exhibitions, and community activities.
In preparation for hosting the Eisteddfod, communities across Pembrokeshire, alongside south Ceredigion and west Carmarthenshire, have undertaken an extensive fundraising effort. With a combined target of £400,000, organisers have confirmed that the total is now close to being achieved, reflecting strong regional support and community engagement.
Cwm Arian is a Community Benefit Society in West Wales, supporting homes, community centres, and local groups in setting up renewable energy systems, saving energy, and reducing carbon emissions.
The society’s work started with a community wind turbine in Llanfyrnach, which still generates clean energy today.
Cwm Arian will be present on the Maes throughout the week and welcomes visitors from all backgrounds, whether Welsh-speaking or not.
Anna Mounteney from Cwm Arian adds:“We are delighted to be part of Eisteddfod y Garreg Las in such a significant year. It is a wonderful opportunity for us to share our work, connect with visitors, and celebrate the rich culture and community spirit of west Wales.”
The location for this year’s Eisteddfod is named after the striking local bluestone. The catchment area stretches across three stunning regions: Pembrokeshire, south Ceredigion, and west Carmarthenshire – each with its own charm, stories, and warm croeso.
